Year 2

In line with the rest of school, Year 2 children are given a colour banded book each week which closely matches their reading ability, but also offers some challenge. We want our children to read and enjoy  these books with their family at home.  Additionally, children visit the school library each week, from which they can choose a book that they would like to read,  from a variety of genres. We also share a class story at the end of each day. We are currently reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.

We also have group reading sessions four times a week, in which we read a book which is matched to our reading ability, we learn to answer questions about what we have read.

We love reading in our class, and whenever we have complete our work, we can choose a book that we would like to read. We really look forward to this!
